SENTENCING

Frequently, the firm begins its representation of a new client after the client has been convicted, but before the client is sentenced. With a friend or family member in federal custody waiting to be sentenced (by the same Judge that presided over the trial that resulted in the conviction), many people want to take a fresh approach. The firm is always ready to step in and fight for a brand-new client at sentencing.

Not only is the firm able to represent new clients for sentencing, we prefer it. If the firm can represent a client at sentencing, it helps our ability to challenge the sentence, if unfavorable, on appeal. The sooner we can begin a case, the sooner we can start doing it our way. We will study the facts and the law of your loved one’s particular case. If we need to request a postponement of the sentencing date to accomplish these tasks, then we will file a motion for continuance.
